Voter Registration Deadline:  For any election, the last day to register to vote or update your voter registration is the 15th day prior to the election.

Qualifications:  To register to vote in Alabama, an individual must meet the following qualifications:

• Be a U.S. citizen;
• Reside in Alabama;
• Be at least 18 years old (on or before election day);
• Have not been convicted of a disqualifying felony (or have rights restored); and
• Have not been legally declared "mentally incompetent" by a court.
• You must have an Alabama driver's license or nondriver identification card to register online. If you do not have one of these, provide the last 4 digits of your Social Security number on the paper application.

How to Register:  There are several ways to get a voter registration form. 

You can request online (http://sos.alabama.gov/contact/online_voter_form_request) a mail-in voter registration form to be mailed to you. 

You can complete an Electronic Voter Registration Application online at https://www.alabamainteractive.org/sos/voter_registration/instructions.action

In person you may also obtain voter registration services at the following state and local government offices and agencies:

• Driver's licensing office;
• County and select municipal public libraries;
• Department of Human Resources;
• WIC Program, Department of Public Health;
• Medicaid agency; 
• Department of Rehabilitation Services;
• Board of Registrars located at the county seat in the voter's county of residence;
• Armed forces recruiting stations;
• Select Colleges and universities;
• Probate Judge and License Commissioner offices.
