The duties of the Office Staff for the Local Union include handling the day to day office operations; answering the phones, assisting Member's needs, assisting the Business Agents with correspondence to the Members and Employers, typing/word processing, managing dues receipts, bookkeeping, processing insurance and pension claims, the list goes on and on.
With their many tasks and years of experience, they are often thought of as the backbone of the Local Union's operation.
Sister Chapa is a 25 year Teamster. In 1983, she began working for Local 991 as a Titan Operator and Secretary. In 1985, Judy became the Bookkeeper, in 1991 she became the Benefits Coordinator, and has served on the Local 991 Executive Board from 1991 to 2005 as a Recording Secretary and as Vice President. Judy has one child and 2 grandchildren.
Sister Powe is a 17 year Teamster, and has been working for Local 991 since 1991.

Cynthia is married, has one child, and resides in Mobile, AL, where she was born and raised.
Cynthia & Judy volunteered their time to help process Teamster Disaster Relief funds for Member/Victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, 2005. Also shown helping is Local 991 Member Dee Propst and IBT Rep. Cheryl Johnson (right).
